Bob Weickgenannt, President of Starcom Design/Build, announced today that his company was presented with three awards by the Home Builders Association of Maryland: an Award of Excellence for the Henley master bath project in the $75K-$100K range, a Silver Merit Award for the Martin whole house renovation for projects $500K and above, and a Silver Merit Award for the Acott family room for projects in the $100K-$150K range.

The Home Builders Association of Maryland Remodeling Award of Excellence selects winning remodelers based on a project's degree of difficulty, value and cost effectiveness, design and sensitivity to existing structure and quality of construction.
We’re very pleased to announce that Starcom Design/Build has won three Awards of Excellence in the Maryland Remodelers competition sponsored by the Home Builders Association (HBA) this past Thursday evening 11/15/07. Each year remodeling projects are judged across the state for their quality of design, craftsmanship, value and utility. This year marked the most entries ever. These three awards mark the 10th, 11th, and 12th awards won over Starcom’s 20 plus years in the business. One of the few companies to win multiple awards, confirming that Starcom is one of Howard County’s leading residential design/build remodeling firms.
We’re very pleased to announce that Starcom Design/Build has been named to Qualified Remodeler Magazine’s list of the top 500 remodeling firms in the nation for 2007. Each year Qualified Remodeler reviews thousands and thousands of remodeling companies to determine which professional remodeling firms make the final cut of the Top 500 list. Ranked by sales, Starcom was 382 on the list, confirming that Starcom is one of Howard County’s leading residential design/build remodeling firms.
Bob Weickgenannt, Starcom’s president, said upon learning of the award that “we could never have achieved this honor if it wasn’t for the many wonderful homeowners we work with every year, many of whom become repeat clients and refer their friends to us.” He also said that “our team of designers and craftsmen plays an integral role in making an award like this possible.”
Started in 1986 by president and founder Bob Weickgenannt, who was then working out of his home, this month marks Starcom Design Build’s 21st birthday. At our celebration, Bob said he felt especially pleased to have reached this milestone because so many remodeling firms don’t stay in business anywhere nearly as long. He credits the company’s success to the many systems we have developed and put in place that help assure that projects run smoothly, on time and on budget, the excellent design work and craftsmanship our staff has consistently provided, and the staff’s dedication to quality and client satisfaction.
Bob could not precisely answer the question posed to him by one of our newer staff members of how many projects has Starcom completed in 21 years. He said he lost count after about 1200.
For the 3rd season in a row, Starcom Design/Build is honored to be the corporate sponsor for a little league team in Howard County. The team members are all 8-12 years old and play at the famous Kiwanis Park. We believe that youth sports programs are very important for the families in our community, and are proud to do our part to help out.
Remodeling Magazine announced this month their list of remodeling companies nationwide who have earned the prestigious distinction of being a Big50 award winner and Starcom Design/Build was on the list. Being awarded the Big50 is a great achievement for us and we couldn’t be more proud.
The Big50 award is given only to remodelers who have maintained high standards of work, customer service, and corporate responsibility, and we are thrilled at being recognized as a leader in those areas. The Big50 is awarded to remodelers who are making a difference in the lives of their customers, their communities, and the larger industry, and that has always been our goal.
Starcom was recently awarded our eighth and ninth Remodeler’s Council Awards of Excellence from the Remodelers Division of the Home Builders Association of Maryland. The awards are for design and construction quality in the categories of Bathroom Alteration under $50,000 and Kitchen Project from $50,000 - $100,000.
This month, Starcom was awarded our seventh Remodeler’s Council Award of Excellence from the Remodelers Division of the Home Builders Association of Maryland. We’re very proud of all of the work we do, and especially proud that our projects consistently win awards of excellence. We put a lot of effort into our work, and it’s gratifying to receive recognition.
Dedicated to ongoing improvement and professional development, Starcom has applied for and has been accepted as a member of Remodelers Advantages Roundtables. Comprised of over 250 remodeling firms in the US and Canada, Roundtables membership will provide Starcom’s president and staff the ability to meet with and share ideas and best practices with some of the industry’s most successful remodeling companies. At least 12 times a year, Starcom’s management will meet on site or in teleconferences with other Roundtables members to discuss issues that will help Starcom and the other companies solve and prevent problems, learn about the industry’s best practices, make contacts, and better serve their customers. Several other times a year, Starcom’s management or staff will attend industry conferences and training seminars on all aspects of raising the bar of professionalism not only in each of the members companies but for the industry as well
Readers of Columbia Magazine have voted Starcom Howard County’s best contractor of the year for the 2nd time. Conveniently located at 8835-M Columbia 100 Parkway in Columbia, MD, our new center will provide you greater convenience when selecting products, colors, and materials for use in your remodeling project. In addition to being a showroom and selection center, our new facility also houses our design office, making it more convenient for you to meet with our project designer, review designs and make product selections in the comfort and privacy of our conference room. The showroom is open by appointment Monday – Friday and is open to the public on Saturdays from 9:00am until 2:00pm.
