Kitchens Case Studies: Wet Bar in the Kitchen

Challenge

Our clients loved to entertain and liked being able to accommodate their guests when the came over. Unfortunately, the size of their kitchen wasn’t enough for the homeowners to have all the entertaining features that they wanted in their home. They needed to find a way to work a bar area, with a sink, into their existing kitchen. The new wet bar also needed new plumbing ran in order to accommodate the new addition to the kitchen space.

Solution

For this project we wanted to make sure that there was still continuity in the design of the kitchen. We kept the same style white cabinets to go above the bar counter area, but instead of the same cabinets we installed some feature cabinets that would make the space pop. Glass paned windows on the cabinets showed off the family’s colorful assortment of wine goblets. Inside the cabinets was lighting that illuminated even the clear glasses and made them stand out through the cabinet doors. There was also a dome shaped space for displaying decorative plates and cookie jars. Beneath it was a open plate rack that was only used for their best serving dishes.

The counter of the wet bar was a perfect match for the granite counter used in the rest of the kitchen. The small sink was the perfect size for a mini bar and looked sleek with its silver faucet and fixtures. On the wall behind the bar mirrored glass was installed. Mirrors are not only good for reflecting light and keeping the space looking bright, but when used correctly the mirror shows off the different angles of the room and makes the space appear larger. That was just what this kitchen needed because of the limited amount of space. The homeowners loved their kitchen and bar area, which is perfect for when they have company, but it is also something that they themselves use everyday.
