Starcom Design/Build Case Studies: Three Story Addition on a Slope in Olney, MD
Challenge
Our clients came to us looking to build an addition and a sun room off the back of their house that would be perfect for enjoying the sunset, or just relaxing as a family. Their beautiful home in Olney, MD was built on a bit of a slope so creating the perfect addition to the home presented itself as a bit of a challenge.
This three story beauty turned out to be one of our award winning designs. Our expert design team was able to strike a balance between the existing structure of the home and the wish list that the family wanted us to meet.
Solution
We built a small workshop in the basement which was perfect for the husband who liked to be handy around the house. We built the porch off the back of the sun room and elevated it with stilts to accommodate the extra slope present in the backyard. This was the perfect place for enjoying the views of nature in the back of the house. Inside of the sun room the high vaulted ceiling was paneled with wood, and the rest of the room was decked out with wood trim as well. This lent itself well to the rustic feel of the home, which was positioned right on the edge of a beautifully wooded area.
The homeowners were so happy with the end result from this project. They wrote in, “Starcom built a beautiful addition for our friends that we saw during an open house. We hired them to create something just as beautiful for us.”
