From Builder Grade to Beautiful
Everyone wants a kitchen that will impress their friends and family. In order to accomplish that you will want a kitchen that reflects your personal style that is designed with functionality and aesthetics in mind. These are the steps and thought processes you should go through when planning on upgrading to a new beautiful kitchen.
Builder grade is any home that is constructed with the most minimal and inexpensive materials you can find out there. The term can be applied to a whole house, room, or something as small as paint on the walls. We use quality materials in order to give your home a beautiful look that will last.
Style
Style is everything. Every decision you make in the kitchen will be based on this and will be a reflection of yourself. Style changes over time which is why you will want to upgrade from an older or builder grade kitchen to a beautiful kitchen. The kitchen is one of the first things people will see when they step into a home, and will often be a representation of the rest of the home.
Style influences every decision such as: appliances, flooring, cabinets, etc. The crucial aspect of style is to make sure you keep it consistent. Keep the same ideas and style throughout the kitchen because you want it to show one overarching theme.
Budget
Before anything is done you should think about how much you would be willing to spend on a new remodeled kitchen. After doing so, then start to think about what you want your kitchen to look like based off the price range that you decided on.
We will work with you based on your budget to create the best kitchen possible according to the numbers that you have provided.
Challenges
There are a couple challenges you could run into including structure of your kitchen and with newer appliances. With structure, it’s important that you design your kitchen with that in mind because what you necessarily want might not fit properly based on how your kitchen was originally made. We will implement the kitchen work triangle to layout the design of your kitchen that will keep it aesthetically pleasing and functional. The main tasks in a kitchen are between the cook top, sink, and refrigerator; we will design your kitchen with effective placement.
Newer appliances are now being made to combine certain features. For example, the GE Advantium oven acts like an oven and a microwave at the same time so there isn’t a need for a separate microwave. With that in mind, you then have to decide what will fill the space left with the microwave gone, for example, an additional cabinet.
Appliances
The appliances you select should be determined by what you like to cook or make in your kitchen. For example, if you are someone who likes to cook or bake frequently, then a double oven would be a good fit for you. Other ideas are: a wine fridge for families that like to enjoy a glass every now and then, two dishwashers for larger families, etc. However, regardless of what decisions you make with appliances, make sure you don’t sacrifice style for effectiveness.
Flooring
The floor should complement the overall look you are going for in the kitchen. It doesn’t have to be an exact match but it should go hand and hand with the style. The flooring can make a statement or blend with the rest of the kitchen design.
There are many types of flooring to choose from such as: laminate, engineered hardwood, wood, tile, etc. If you choose tile flooring, make sure you choose the appropriate grout color to complement the other details of the kitchen.
Cabinets
Cabinets give you a lot of options to choose from. One popular option is choosing cabinets that match either the backsplash in the kitchen or the walls of the kitchen. For example, people with white walls often choose white cabinets to go along with it because they virtually disappear into the backsplash for a more airy look. There are many different cabinet trends that are becoming increasingly popular including: bright colored cabinets, two-toned, different colored islands, etc.
Bright colored cabinets are popular because they are used to lighten up dark spaces and it gives any kitchen a welcoming feeling. One of the more popular colored cabinets is navy blue cabinets because they give a relaxed and calming feeling to your home while still adding color. Two-toned cabinets are usually paired with a light upper portion with a darker bottom. White is usually the most popular upper cabinet color, while grey and dark blue are popular for the bottom portion. Different colored islands are a great way to add color and interest to your kitchen without committing to all the bottom cabinets. White kitchens with a darker wood toned island, pairing grey and white together or black and white have been rising in popularity.
By upgrading your kitchen from builder grade materials you will have: increased functionality, decreased headaches and fulfillment in knowing you have a quality made kitchen that is made to last.
